Archie Hamilton was born into a life in music. The polar influences he was exposed to throughout his childhood can be attributed to the multi-faceted sound of his own work in the studio, or unique style behind the decks. On the one hand his father educated him in the classical modes: jazz, acoustic, rhythm & blues, soul, and even opera. On the other hand his Mother came from a punk background (she was even in a punk band in the late seventies – complete with a shaven head!) before embracing the Acid House movement, exposing Archie to the sounds and rhythms of Hardfloor, Adonis, Marshall Jefferson, Jam & Spoon and the Orb. He started listening to her Terry Farley and Mrs Wood mix-tapes and naturally (at the tender age of thirteen) saved up to buy a set of Numark belt-drive turntables and began scoring basic compositions using the eJay loop sequencer.

He started his DJ career at university, where he secured a residency as the opening DJ at the Carling/O2 Academy in Oxford in 2006. On moving back to London in 2008 he continued to enhance his path in the industry by working at ‘Defected Records’ and ’360 Artist Mangement’, ably supported with a succession of regular gigs at venues such as the Aquarium, Cargo, the Rhythm Factory, the Lightbox, the Doors, and the Horse & Groom; all culminating in a memorable performance at the Glade Festival in the summer of 2009. The following winter, he co-founded the ‘moscow records’ imprint where he started releasing his own music and applying his past knowledge and experience to take on the A&R duties, along with a weekly residency at the T Bar (RIP).

Throughout 2010 moscow released a series of records to critical acclaim. With rave reviews on RA and Ibiza voice, and accompanied by support from a long list of A List DJ’s, the fledgling vinyl imprint made a serious impact in a very short time. Since then, Archie has been deep in the studio honing his craft and working tirelessly behind the scenes. With an underground hit remix for Death On The Balcony, and an arsenal of unreleased material under his belt, Archie has been awarded a coveted residency at Rhythmatic, which, according to RA “is among the best parties in London”. He will be playing alongside guests such as Gorge, Gavin Herlihy, Marco Carola, Matthias Tanzmann, Davide Squillace, Rhadoo, Petre Inspirescu, Thomas Melchior, and many more…

Needless to say, you will be hearing his name a lot more henceforth.
